1. The Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC, Friday arrested former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio over alleged theft of N108.1billion of the State funds.

President Muhammadu Buhari has further assured Nigerians in an
interview on Al Jazeera TV that his government will end Boko Haram in
December. He however said he will not resign if he fails to meet the
deadline, but would rather stay and fight it out.

Adviser to former President, Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity,
Dr. Reuben Abati has condemned a recent comment by Edwin Clark, that
Jonathan lacked the will to fight corruption. Abati said the statement
was the worst form of humiliation his former principal received since he
left office. He said Clark was a betrayal, cautioning that people like
him should not be allowed to be part of any government.
4. The Federal Government, on Friday
at the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja. Boasted that it had
sufficient evidence to establish that the Senate President, Dr.
Olubukola Saraki, as a public officer, acquired several assets beyond
his legitimate earnings. The prosecutor, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs, SAN,
disclosed that five witnesses lined-up against the Senate President,
have all expressed their readiness to appear before the Code of Conduct
Tribunal, CCT, on October 21, to testify against Saraki.

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio has reacted to his
arrest by the EFCC, saying that he does not have any thing to hide a
former Governor. Akpabio who said his hands were clean avowed via his
twitter handle that he was only invited another arrested as widely
reported.

A South-East socio-political organization, Njiko Igbo Forum, has said
the Igbos will never vote for the PDP again, describing the Party and
its leaders as cowards and bunch of ingrate. It gave its reason as the
zoning of its 2019 presidential ticket to the North. The group said it
was the height of ingratitude to deny the South-East the presidential
ticket despite getting block votes from the zone in 2015.

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has written to the Senate
President, Bukola Saraki to ignore the petition against him and clear
him as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Amaechi who wrote
through his lawyer, Edward E. Pepple of Edward and Williams and Co,
said the entirety of the so-called petition and white paper ran foul of
the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and must be ignore
by Saraki and his colleagues.
8. Nephew of Afrobeat legend, Fela
Kuti and an officer in the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Enitan
Ransome-Kuti has been jailed for six months for allowing Boko Haram
Islamists to have capture military weapons during a deadly attack in the
northeast. This was disclosed by his lawyer on Friday.

called on the Super Eagles B team and Golden Eaglets, to put smiles on
the faces of Nigerians this weekend as they embark on their various

10. Benue State Governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has
declared that no amount of intimidation or blackmail will stop him from
probing former Governor, Gabriel Suswam’s eight years rule in Benue
State. Ortom made the statement on Friday in Makurdi at the ongoing Benue Stakeholders’ Forum held at the Benue People’s House.
